At Least 7 Dead, 12 Wounded in Shooting at Ft. Hood in Texas
Thursday, November 05, 2009

Print ShareThisDEVELOPING: A mass shooting at Ft. Hood military base in Texas has left at least 7 dead and 12 wounded and one suspected gunman is on the loose, officials told Fox News.

A massive manhunt was under way for the suspect at large, Fox News confirmed. One person was in custody. The New York Post said that there were two shooters at the Army base massacre.

The attack apparently happened at the base's Soldier Readiness Center. Army officials didn't know whether the victims were civilians or military personnel.

Other media reports said the number of victims remained unclear.

The men were reportedly dressed in Army fatigues, but military officials couldn't confirm that they were Army personnel.

The base and area schools were on lockdown after the mass shooting, and all those on the Army base were asked to gather for a head count.

The FBI was en route to Ft. Hood to provide assistance.

Kind of reminds me of what the nuts were gona do in NJ a few years back.

Smart response would be to stop disarming as many people as possible on military bases. Have every single soldier trained and instructed on basic pistol usage, and keep them armed.

Obama is President. I predict gun control, to protect our soldiers! (Which is both humorous in the context, and frightening when one considers why armed citizens would be dangerous to government soldiers...)

I agree

should be armed...

Interesting parralel is on the show NCIS when Zeva, the Mossad agent visited a base office and asked why no one was armed and seemed baffled with Denozo's answer...
Once again where folks are disarmed, these things will continue to happen...
sad that those tasked with our protection can't protect themselves.

The current resident of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue is making a speech to the same effect but of course will never make the connection that "safety and security at home" should be properly "provided for."

I'm here at Fort Hood...only one shooting, 12 dead, 31 shot..one of the shooters was killed..they got 2 more suspects and they just caught the last one, downtown Killeen...this place looks like a war zone, even my wife can't get out of her job, because of the lockdown. When they said, one of the shooters was on the lose, hey my friends, it was dog outside, alarm on and shotgun ready, better to be ready...Still worry about my wife, but we talked and everybody at her job is ok...

ABC News is saying the primary shooter was an officer! Major Malik Nadal Hasan. (what kind of name is that?) I hope the soldiers tore his head off.

He's already dead -- I'm just hoping he had a fitting (and painful) demise.

The person identified as the primary shooter was a Major/O4 from Virginia. He was also a Muslim convert. Sources have told Fox and the Temple Tx reporter that the Major was unhappy about his upcoming deployment to Iraq. No info as to rank, etc, of the two other soldiers currently in custody.

The shooter's name is Major "Milik Nidal Hasan". That's a long way from a common "Joe Smith" name.

Oh ... when will we EVER learn?!

This is, of course, all George Bush's fault because of his attack on Iraq.

Fortunately, we now have a president that is reaching out to the Muslim community. This shooting is just an example of how we have failed in reaching out to our Muslim brothers.

I like the 50BMG it really reaches out.

Any more (quotes from michael savage) and this thread is over?

1. It's not racism. Muslim is not a race.

2. Let's ask/wait ad see if this man was a valuable soldier who was actually stressed/ pushed too far etc, and made a horrible mistake, or if he was a bad man before he put the uniform on.

I am sure there are more options than those 2 but, really. C'mon we are talking about an Officer in the US Army (and 2 others) so let's show a little bit of tact and face reality.

The man had an education. He spent at least 6-8 years or so in the army to reach that rank. A lot of lives have been effected by this.

EDIT:

I meant to type LUBY'S not Ruby's. We have a Ruby's in town and I was thinking LUBY but typed RUBY. Apologies to the forum.
~~~~~
I would comment on this because there is much more to this story but I will remain quiet for now on some points.
Thank you, B.P.
Good and bad in all people and in all religions.
May the deceased rest in peace. May the wounded heal. The families and friends of the deceased and wounded have my sincere condolences.
Too bad that NO one stopped the shooter in any manner from the gitgo!
This is not the place but 'they' will bring up all manner of things as they have in ALL news outlets from the Army base, the illegal war, bias/hatred towards Muslims which is like lumping ALL Christians, Jews, agnostics, atheists, veterans, and GUN folks in one group - bias/hatred is WRONG, HANDGUNS, the Ruby Cafe shootings in the past, etc. ALL of the buzz words were used today on ALL news outlets including camou uniforms - 'authorized to WEAR them' or not as many NEWS stations mentioned including Faux Fox, the officer being a doctor - psychiatrist, his transfer, his good record in the past - background until the last transfer and 'evaluation' from D.C./MD to Texas - how convenient, NOT, and tons more.
THIS is getting a lot of attention. Meanwhile, OUR U.S. military and allies are getting killed/wounded in illegal/stupid Wars plus many INNOCENT people overseas. Gee, does that get 24/7 attention like this story or a dead singer/movie star?! NOT!
May the dead rest in peace on ALL sides. May ALL of the wounded heal.
Catherine
Dead men tell no tales - very convenient for the powers that be. A lot does NOT add up as usual.
Exclamation
ALL People should be allowed to carry a GUN for self defense no matter where they work or play or live.
ANY kind of carry. Have gun will travel.
This proves that the anti gun - anti liberty people who say that ONLY the police and military should be able to carry and use a GUN are wrong - dead wrong.
