Looking forward to the new CZ P07

The CZ P07 Duty, an original design, brand new trigger system, not a repackaged CZ-75, but something new under the Czech sun. Not much info yet, but a nice pre-production picture. 9mm, switchable from decocker to standard safety and back. Coming out next year.

Want. Want now.

That is a sweet looking gun. Is it just me or does the trigger guard look huge? Maybe it's just the angle that the picture was taken at. What do you guess the price will be on these? And do you have any idea of how early in 2009 they'll be available?

That *is* a huge trigger guard. But I like the look of the gun -- is that a reversable backstrap, too?

However, I don't like it quite as much as I do the P01, so this one will fit lower on the wishlist

Looking at the trigger guard, I believe that this is the model that you can shoot wearing mittens.

I'm neutral on the aesthetics, but it will be nice to see another polymer-framed DA/SA pistol out there. Too many manufacturers are jumping on the striker-fired bandwagon. Not that there's anything wrong with them.

I don't know if the backstrap is changable or not, but I'll see if I can find out.

Butt ugly! That thing would have to shoot laser guided bullets before I'd carry it and even that might not be enough. Hard to tell how or why it's a "75". Doesn't look like much was carried over.

Yup.

I see a lot of things going on that look like they're there more for aesthetics than function. And I don't care for the aesthetics. I think it's the trigger guard that does it for me. At least it doesn't have forward cocking serrations.

What's that patch forward of what must be the slide latch?

Examining that layout makes me think that is going to be a pretty small gun.

I'll definately be smoking it over, I'm a big fan of all things CZ.

I would think the "patch forward of the slide release is for a "thumb forward" hold w/ the supporting hand. (for a right-handed shooter)

The only thing that has no place on the weapon is "DUTY" on the forward portion of the slide. That's just silly.

I certainly hope they've done it right this time. I remember the CZ-100.

It looks like the fire control system is not ground up different judging from the pin locations. The lock up has been changed from the lugs on the barrel to the cheaper locking on the hood of the slide method that Glock, S&W, Sig, and others have gone too. The larger trigger guard is a plus for function with gloves on. While I'll take the classic CZ line, this looks to be a good addition and cheaper to manufacture as all plastic framed pistols are.

Actually the fire control system, from what I was told, is quite differant, and reported to be improved over the standard CZ system. Looking forward to finding out.

iirc they said something about the safety lever being able to cock n' lock, and also function as a decocker for when you're done shooting.

I don't think the trigger guard is overly huge. To me it looks like the rest of the gun is a little smaller than you might think.

Is it just me though or does the barrel look like it sits fairly high in the gun? Kind of hard to tell, but it looks like it's farther from the hand than the traditional CZ-75's.

I'll wait and see how it fits my hand and how easy it is to work the manual thumb safety on one. I would like a CZ type light pistol besides my P-01 for conceal carry that has a manual safety so I have some hope that it will be good.

I also agree with retgarr's comments on the CZ-100. What a terrible pistol.

Sometimes I feel like I'm the only one in the world who likes the CZ 100. It's not my favorite pistol, by any stretch of the imagination. It gets the job done, though. Even one of the lieutenants here on the local police force finds it acceptable after getting over his initial Not Glock reaction. Dryfiring, he disliked the trigger; on the firing line, he didn't have a bit of problem with the pull. Maybe that's because he sometimes carries a 642 Airweight.
As for the P 07, the verdict's out for me until I can heft it. Down here in southeast Texas, we don't need many winter triggerguards for gloves. Also, I'm not sold on the finger pad on the frame. I guess that's what that stippled area is in front of the slide release.

there's a CZ-100 here at our gun shop. it's been there since march - almost seems like noone wants it. they've been asking 300.

Damn. Another CZ I have to buy. I'll be sure and check that out at the Shot Show.

I just bought a CZ SP-01 Phantom yesterday. I honestly believe they have figured out how to make polymer guns now.

Great, just what I need. Something else to add to the credit card. Although I just may have to wait on the .40S&W version.
